Traveling

Fripp is homebase this year and it is 90 minutes north of the Savannah airport and two hours south of the Charleston airport. Both have discount carriers and will be full of FlockStars to carpool with so study them both.

We have a rideshare board on Facebook if you want to find friends with empty seats and/or if you want to offer any extra space you might have to a fellow flocker.

Once you register for the event, you’ll be given access to the list of all registrants in your private dashboard. Everyone will be listed by city and state so you can easily sort the list to find people near your hometown. Not only will you meet new neighbors and training buddies, but yall can also see if carpooling to the event makes any sense.

Every year the interstates are clogged with pink-clad vehicles headed to the lowcountry. Many of the travelers have only known each other for a few hours but are playing the License Plate Game like they’ve been sisters forever.

Reach out and touch somebody. It’ll be more fun and a lot cheaper!

Accommodations

Most people are staying within Fripp Island Resort. They don’t have a hotel, but they do have zillions of houses and condos that are a fraction of the cost we used to pay down in Hilton Head!

Go to their website to get a feel for the island and what kind of properties catch your eye. Then give them a call. The ladies in reservations LOVE talking to our FlockStars and genuinely want to help you find the best house or villa for your stay. Their phone number is 843-838-1558.

Again, don’t forget to check in the group Facebook page and see if people have an extra bedroom or two available in their rental. You can split the cost with them and have new BFFs before we even start!

If you end up booking something and have an empty bed or two, post it on the chat club page and adopt a solo flocker!

Want to save even more money and/or want to experience “real” Fancy Camp? Hunting Island State Park (the adjacent island) has campsites available for all three nights! Pitch a tent, bring/rent an RV, and listen to the waves crash all night long. It is heaven (and spots in heaven go fast so book now or forever hold your peace). Email info@pledgethepink.com if you would like to reserve a spot.

Want to be closer to town? Stay at one of the Bluff Villas on Dataw- only 15 minutes to Fripp and 15 minutes to Beaufort’s historic waterfront. Call the clubhouse or look them up on VRBO or on AirBnB.

Local residents can daytrip from nearby Bluffton (an hour), Okatie (45 mins), Hilton Head (75 mins), or Charleston (two hours). Parking is limited at the start lines so we ask you to please carpool.

St Helena Elementary School is a great place to meet, park your cars, and carpool over to Fripp or Dataw.

NOTE: Do you absolutely, positively need a luxury spa, fine dining, and a mint next to your pillow? We have a 4 and 5 star hotel about an hour and fifteen minutes away: The Inn at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton and the Omni Oceanfront Resort on Hilton Head. With the 9am start times on Friday and Saturday, it is a very manageable trip. The 7:30 sunrise start on Sunday might be a little rough. But hey, you’ve been pampered all weekend so you can do anything!

Food

A most important subject! Fripp has several restaurants and snack bars open across the resort:

  • Bonito Boathouse offers a casual seafood menu overlooking the water at Fripp Island Marina. Open from 5:30-9pm. Click for menu.
  • The Food Court is located at the Beach Club and is open everyday from 11am until 9pm
  • The Ocean Point Grille is open from 7am-5pm for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Click for menu.
  • Spring Tide Market & Deli is open from 9am until 6pm.
  • Nightly catered dinners for Pledge the Pink guests will also be available for the first 150 to RSVP (coming soon)

A few miles from Fripp you’ll find several local restaurants. We here at PTP even tested them out for yall to make sure they are worthy of our referrals. Mmmm, they are!

Want to see why Beaufort is always ranked the happiest place in America to live (and check out the historic waterfront where so many of your favorite movies are filmed)? All of these are on Bay Street, about 20 miles from Fripp:

You can also cook up your own meals and/or order delivery from some of the nearby pizza places like Dominos and Pizza Hut.

STOP IN BEAUFORT ON YOUR WAY TO FRIPP TO PICK UP YOUR GROCERY ITEMS OR ARRANGE TO HAVE THEM DELIVERED TO YOUR FRIPP ADDRESS AFTER 4PM (CHECK-IN)!

There is a small convenience store and deli within the resort, but you’ll definitely need to stop and shop before you get to the Island.

  • Publix, 61 Lady’s Island Drive
  • Food Lion, 10 Sam’s Point
  • Piggly Wiggly, 1347 Ribaut Road in Port Royal (you can also order online with pickup and/or they will deliver to Fripp for a small fee. Click here and select the Port Royal location.
  • WalMart, 265 Sea Island Parkway (also has online ordering with free pickup and will deliver to Fripp! Click here.

The resort has souvenir and convenience items at the Spring Tide Market (near the gate), at the Marina, and next to the Beach Club.

Downtown Beaufort has an eclectic mix of local retail shops and, of course, national retailers.
