Haig Point, Daufuskie Island

Sponsored by:

Race Time: 9am
Buses & boats depart starting at 6:45am

Enjoy our gorgeous, private ferry ride to Haig Point on beautiful Daufuskie Island. You’ll be welcomed with rum punch, white sandy beaches, and a lush, tropical landscape full of history and intrigue.

Daufuskie Island has no bridge, so we will be transporting all 3-day and Friday registrants to the private island via boat. Our buses will pick you up from the Coligny Beach Parking Lot on Hilton Head between 6:35am and 8:00am. We’ll drop you at Harbour Town Marina where you’ll board our private ferries to Haig Point on Daufuskie Island.

NOTE: Unless you are a Sea Pines resident or have booked accommodations within the Sea Pines Resort, you must take our buses from Coligny to Harbour Town.

Please know that the Coast Guard requires all occupants (including infants sitting on laps) to be ticketed passengers. Limited stroller space will be available on each boat.

Lunch will be served under a giant tent on the waterfront.

Here’s our schedule for the day:

6:35 – 8AM: Shuttle buses from Coligny Beach parking lot to Harbour Town Marina. Last bus leaves at 8AM sharp.

7:00 – 8:25AM: ferries leave from Harbour Town to Haig Point

7:15 – 8:45AM: bag drop, scavenger hunts, games, dancing, photoshoots, and a giant sing-a-long

9AM: race starts

11AM – 1:30PM: afterparty, lunch, and fun.

12:30 – 2PM: return ferries to Harbour Town

12:45 – 2:30PM: return buses to Coligny

Saturday, Sept 23

Callawassie Island

Race Time: 9am
Optional buses depart 7:30am

The kindness at Callawassie makes an impression. Say “hi” to the state’s biggest alligator. Walk along the secluded Callawassie waterfront. Experience a slice some serious southern hospitality. And as always, be prepared for surprises.

Unlike Daufuskie, Callawassie is accessible by vehicle so registrants can either carpool together or hop on our coach buses. The buses depart Coligny Beach Parking Lot on Hilton Head at 7:30AM sharp, and the drive to Callawassie is just under an hour so we’ll have you there thirty minutes before the start.

The return charter buses will begin departing at 1PM and will leave as they are filled. The last bus must be on the road by 1:45.

If you are driving, we ask that everyone please carpool with at least four people per vehicle, as there is very little parking on the island. You can also park at Beaufort Jasper Hampton Comprehensive Health Services (170 Okatie Highway) and coordinate to ride onto island with friends.

Our world-record breaking Flocks of Love will be set up near the finish line this year so honorees and adoptive parents can dress up their birdies and get to know each other before the race. And yes, you can take your bird with you at the end of the day! Click here for info on flamingo fundraiser.

Here’s our schedule for the day:

Bag drop will be available at the start line.

Packet pickup, warmup, music, group picture, and a whole lotta flamingo loving will be going on from 8-9am.

The after-party will start around 11am and continue until 1:30pm. Our DJ will keep things rockin and have us embarrassing ourselves throughout. Fabulous games will be played, contests will be won, tears will run down our legs, and lives will be saved.

Go to sleep early tonight.

Sunday, Sept 24

Hilton Head Island

Sponsored by:

Shelter Cove Waterfront Park
Race Time: 6:30am

Roll out of bed and meet us at Shelter Cove Towne Centre, at the park where we all met Thursday night. Carpool and park near Belk’s by 6am.

Bag drop will be available in the park and we will TRY to have coffee available for everyone. Water and fruit will be waiting, for sure. As will portajohns.

Race will start promptly at 6:30am and the first two miles of the course are on pathways and sidewalks.

Please note that we are crossing Highway 278 at approximately Mile 1 and we are required to have the sheriff’s office there to ensure everyone’s safety.

The officers will only be there until 7am (that gives you 30 minutes to get to mile one). If you are late to the start, you’ll need to make sure you can run to this intersection by 7am.

You’ll step onto the beach at Burke’s Beach, at mile 2. In addition to water, snacks, and sports drink, we’ll have portajohns here and we suggest everyone use them.

There will be additional bathroom available along the course but you will have to leave the beach to access them!

The sun will be rising as you enter the beach and low tide is at 5:18am so we’ll have plenty of wide beaches this morning.

The course is basically two miles of pathways, then five miles of beach, and then 3 miles of pathways to the finish line.

The after-party starts around 8:30 and breakfast will be catered by our dear friends at the Lunch Lady.

Here’s our schedule for the day:

6:15am: Warm up, final announcements

6:30am: Start

7am: Must be at mile one to cross Highway 278

8:30am: Party starts: food, games, trivia contests, photo opps

9:45-10:15am: Survivor Celebration and final announcements

11am: Sleep (and sign up for 2018)!
